I don’t understand why anyone who knows anything about Bongos and their history of damaged caused by coolant loss/overheating would not think it a priority to fit a low coolant alarm ..(of whatever make) knowing that a single overheating event can cause £1500 of damage and inconvience. I.e. stranded in the middle of Spain because a hose was slowly dripping away.

Not sure what you mean, I have never been to Spain in the Bongo. It's not a priority for me right now as I want to get it fixed first but I am not ruling it out.

What I’m saying is.....that has happened and something like it will happen again...but...the chances can be reduced significantly if a coolant alarm is fitted.
Spain, Scotland or t miles from home....it’s major expense and a pain in the arse.

Right now my priority is to get the van fixed and as I am not getting lots of good ideas as to what the problem may be I am pretty much doing it myself. When I know how much it is going to cost me and that it is fixed I will seriously consider a coolant alarm but there would be little point m fitting one to what at the moment is potentially a scrap van. I appreciate your priority is to pedal your coolant alarms but to be frank, right now it's not exactly helpful!
Oh and also, I never at any time suggested I was any kind of Bongo expert, if I was I doubt I would be on here looking for advice.

From your posts above it sounds as though you do have some ability, bleeding and laser gauge suggest some knowledge....I would have one final attempt at bleeding, ensuring the bottom hose gets hot, providing you do get it hot you have completed the bleed....if it chucks coolant out after that I would suspect the head is cracked and that you get the Bongo to a EXPERT garage.
Regarding the coolant alarms, I made a point of saying Any Make.....I have no interest anymore in Haydn Alarms and haven’t had for the past 5 years. Any alarm is better than non but you get what you pay for.

Ok, points duly noted, that is about the stage I am at, tonight I pressurised the system and found a further leak. Now fixed, so next step a further bleed. I do have some mechanical ability but this is a bit of a whole new ball game. I know about bleeding generally and on Bongos from your videos, currently wishing I was some kin of Bongo expert. I think your point about an expert garage is very relevant, a normal run of the mill garage wouldn't have a clue.
