2dogs created the topic: Not going into drive or reverse on cold
Hi gang , am ashamed to say it's taken me 5 years of happy travels to get here .
My trusted Bongo has developed annoying problem which even a so called Bongo expert is struggling with a diagnose .
As a resulting not going to keep bolting on new parts without an answer .
Firstly it runs as sweet as a nut once up to temp ie about 65c . I know this as I got an engine alarm fitted .on start up its fantastic ticks over sweet . Once into drive or reverse it stalls . No reverse bleep either until it reaches temp . Then away we go . Have recently been from Surrey to Darmoor , then up to Yorkshire do no issues except having to wait for engine to warm up . Not good on peaceful campsite or car park that's busy .
I have taken all connections off and given good clean , checked for broken wires . All seems good .
Would appreciate any help .
Cheers

Hi, surprised to see no responses. You must have resolved this by now I trust. I has the same upon acquiring the van and didn't think much of it, just being misled by a seller who didn't want to expose this issue perhaps? (I live in the Philippines).
After replacing the gearbox fluid including lowering the pan, cleaning the filter, draining the pipes and blowing them completely empty, refilled with the exact amount of recommended hydraulic oil, all was perfect again. No sweat, just a couple of hours work lying on my back.

Hello
Many thanks for the reply . Quite interesting and have taken it on board . Ive booked the van in with a garage that specialize in Bongos . Am going to mention what you said .
He wants to try a couple of other things first so hopefully one way or other it will be resolved .
As you said it is interesting that no one else has had any thing like it
Any how cheers and happy travelling
