Can any one help or give me advise Please? My horn and temperature gauge on my petrol Bongo 1999 model are not working.
My garage said i needed a new temperature sensor for the gauge which i bought and they fitted and said was working but is still showing nothing on the gauge, as in it is below C for cold same as it was before the new part was fitted.
For the horn they told me to buy a new horn relay which i did and they fitted and the horn still doesn't work. They tested and said the horn it self works and the new horn relay works but there is an electrical problem between the relay and the steering wheel. They said i need to find an auto electrician to fix it as they cant fix electric faults.
Also my central locking doesn't work any more i have to open all door manually. i used to be able to turn the key in the drivers door and it opened and closed all the doors.
Does any one know if all three things might be related to the same electrical problem or all completely separate problems?
Any hep and advice would be very much appreciated?
Thanks Amanda

It looks like your mechanic doesn't know what they are doing , these faults don't seem to be related, and are run of the mill faults to check.
Earth the temp sensor wire and the gauge should go to full scale.
The horn problem is probably the push button or a break in the feed wire.
The central locking fault could a broken wire between the drivers door loom and the vehicle,or the activating switch inside the door .
If you are not sure how to do tests seek the help of a compitant Mechanic,I would never advise people to supply their own materials, let the garage supply parts and if the have made a mistake let them pay for their mistake .

Thank you for your very helpful advice.
You are right that my garage don't seem to have a clue when it comes to Bongos. I live in Penzance in Cornwall there are no specialist bongo garages near me Unfortunatly . If any one knows of any mechanics that deal with bongos in my area do let me know.
How do I Earth the temperature gauge? Is it a simple job, something I could do my self?
