Hi Everyone, My speedo has stopped working the "Hold" came flashing on and off when I stopped and restarted the "Hold" light was off and the speedo still won't work. Now I had the cover off and I could see "The Chip" it has "CK-UN-09 V109.02.06" printed on the "Chip box" Now there are a number of wires from this going to the back of speedo one of them was cut and rejoined to the "Chip"
The question is should I replace the "chip and sensor" and if so where do I find the said parts? Also where is the sensor located?

Your help much appreciated
Graham

can you totally disconnect the box electrically . put the wires safe (insulated) and then a test drive, does the speedo now work? it will now be in Km/h

ps I don't have a chip just a replacement dial so odometer is still in Km

Thanks for that info. I took the speedo out did not disconnect anything tapped it then tried it a bit (not enough) thought it was still no good so put the unit back and ordered a new "chip" at £55.
The next day drove it and the speedo is now working again!! So who wants the new "chip" when it comes?

Graham,

I would be tempted to replace the old one anyway. Reason being, if it stopped working once it may, probably will, do so again.

If you haven't determined exactly what caused the malfunction in the first place (loose wire, dodgy connection?) then it seems to me, the sensible thing to do is to fit the new one when comes.

My thoughts only.

Regards,

Peter

Yes Peter I think your right. After reading and a chat with a Bongo supplier/specialist I will keep it at the ready so I can change it when it fails again. He said it almost always the chip that fails.
