I've changed my Freda 2.5d cambelt, tensioner & spring - but I'm unimpressed by the tensioner, though the spring is pulling. I've used the right parts, but the belt will twist almost a half turn.
I found a link here to www.manualesdemecanica.com/images/files/...964dd6d08b6cf9ca.pdf which I understand is the same engine, & advises the usual procedure of loosening the tensioner bolt to allow the spring to make up the tension, turning over the crankshaft clockwise before rechecking & tightening - and specifically says not to put any extra pressure on the tensioner, but I'm not happy to have such a loose running belt!

As often happens, thinking about it over a coffee I wonder ... whether I've been turning the engine over in the wrong direction? Next time it stops raining I'll set my ratchet to undo nuts rather than tighten, and see whether that makes a difference.
